This course addresses the fundamental knowledge needed by successful installers. Students should take this course before taking video, voice or high-speed data. Topics covered include prewire overview, materials, house construction, basic cable layouts, tools, test equipment, troubleshooting at the tap, reconnects, planning the job, aerial installations, underground drop installation, bonding and grounding, entrance to the home, wall fish, multiple dwelling units, return path troubleshooting, cable, F-connectors and signal leakage. Students successfully completing this course will have a strong foundation in the basics of an installation, which will fully prepare them to take video, high-speed data and voice courses.
