Jones/NCTI's Master Technician award is an industry-recognized way of identifying
a select group of technicians and engineers. To be qualified as a Master
Technician, industry professionals must successfully complete a defined
set of courses related to specific broadband operations. The following
can be earned:
Master
Technician (MT) - A Master Technician has gained expertise in coaxial network
and drop installation practices and procedures. This individual has the
knowledge to troubleshoot the system and is qualified to service and maintain
the drop, feeder, RF trunk, fiber-optic system, and headend. Click

Master
Technician, Customer Premises (MTC) - The MTC is highly knowledgeable
in drop installation practices and procedures, with the ability to troubleshoot
the system from the distribution tap to the terminating device at the
customer premises. The individual is qualified to service and maintain
the drop, customer premises equipment (CPE), analog and digital video,
voice, data services, and return path operations. Click

Master
Technician, HFC Networks (MTH) - An expert in HFC network installation
practices and procedures, the MTH has the ability to troubleshoot the
system from the distribution tap through the headend and is qualified
to service and maintain the feeder system, RF trunk system, fiber-optic
system, return path operations, and headend. Click here

Senior
Master Technician (SMT) - The SMT is an unparalleled expert,
possessing knowledge on all HFC network and drop installation practices
and procedures and the ability to troubleshoot the entire system from
the customer premises through the headend. Additionally, this person has
an understanding of voice and data networks and is uniquely qualified
to service and maintain customer premises equipment (CPE), analog and
digital video, voice, data services, drop, feeder, RF trunk, fiber-optic
